About Authentications
An Authentication certificate is a certificate affixed to documents being used overseas. The certificate is issued by a “designated” state or federal agency for countries which are not are members of the Hague Apostille Convention. Like the apostille, the certificate is attached to an original document or certified copy. Unlike the apostille, the document certification process for these countries is not simple and may require obtaining multiple certificates from state, federal and embassy agencies.
